Marshall now makes about half as much money as Gooden. Small detail, I know. But I would think in the grand scheme of things, having an excellent backup making about half as much as your starter is exactly what you want. And Marshall is part of the regular rotation. With the impending decline of Z, having both Marshall and Varejao available off the bench becomes closer to a necessity than a luxury.

Gooden is a good player. He's above average, in fact. He rebounds well and scores efficiently. His defense leaves something to be desired, but then again that same complaint can be made of nearly every Cav. His contract is team-friendly (probably front loaded so that the Cavs can resign Varejao next season; three years is not very long).

Marshall is a different story. He's not nearly as productive as Gooden. But he also provides a complimentary set of skills.

Hmmmm... Why do we need Gooden and Marshall? I asked the same question last year... and I know they're comepletely different players, but thats an awful lot of money to be sitting on the sideline for half the game.
